Alternate History Short Stories - It's out!

Last year, I was approached by Flame Tree Publishing to write the foreword to their new collection of alternate history short stories. I was deeply honoured as well as flabbergasted. Their collections are terrific!

Now, I’ve been writing in the ‘althist’ sub-genre for over ten years. Yes, the Roma Nova stories are thrillers first and foremost, but by imagining an alternative path through history, I was able to indulge my obsession with Ancient Rome, but through a modern lens.

I asked the senior editor at Flame Tree how she had found me and she replied it was the result of researching current althist writers.

So perhaps althist as a subgenre is coming a little more into the main spotlight.

I was thrilled to receive two copies of the hardback deluxe edition from Flame Tree yesterday. My photo hardly does justice to the cover drenched in silver and gold foil stamping. Inside, there are 432 pages – 260,000 words of speculation…

ISBN: 9781804172728

I’d spotted several of the collections on a display at David’s Books in Letchworth, UK. The books have such a distinctive branding for their covers. When I go back to David’s, I sincerely hope I’ll see this one added to the display.

In the meantime, you can buy the gorgeous hardback from the usual online stores or your local bookshop by quoting reference ISBN: 9781804172728.

I was thrilled to be asked to contribute and I hope althist fans enjoy many hours of happy reading!
